Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

1. Introduction

FlightWeasel ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights. We are the controller of this data.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account data: your name, email address and password (stored only in hashed form), or, if you sign in with Google, the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us.
  • Preferences: your home city and airport, the routes and custom alerts you follow, email settings, and airlines you've hidden.
  • Email records: which of our emails we sent you and when, whether our email provider accepted them, and every change to your email preferences, including each unsubscribe (through the link in an email, your mail app's unsubscribe button, or your settings). We don't keep copies of the emails themselves.
  • Searches: the routes, dates and cabins of your live searches, and their results.
  • Premium: your subscription status and dates, your search-date balance and monthly top-ups, and your Stripe customer ID. From Stripe and Link (section 4) we also receive your name, email, billing address, and the payment and tax details of your order, but never your full card number.
  • Messages you send us, such as support requests and withdrawals.
  • Feedback you choose to give us: the score (1 to 5) and the optional comment you send from a “What do you think?” email, linked to your account.
  • Technical data: your IP address and browser details, used for security, rate limiting and bot protection, and kept in our server logs.
  • Usage data: pages visited, time spent, referral sources, and interaction with our site, only if you accept analytics cookies (see Section 8).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for these purposes, each on the legal basis shown (Article 6 of the GDPR):

  • To provide your account, alerts, deal emails, live searches and Premium, and to send service emails (verification, password resets, search results): performance of our contract with you.
  • To take Premium payments and manage your subscription with Stripe and Link: contract, and legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, fraud and bots: our legitimate interests.
  • To improve our website and build flight-price statistics (which don't identify you), and to send account holders tips and updates about Flight Weasel, such as a reminder that you haven't set up an alert yet: our legitimate interests. You can object at any time: every such email has an unsubscribe link, and you can switch them off in your email settings.
  • To read the feedback you choose to send us and improve Flight Weasel with it: our legitimate interests.
  • To measure site usage and our ads with Google Analytics and Google Ads: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To respond to support requests and handle refunds, withdrawals and complaints: contract and legal obligations.

We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Payments: Stripe and Link

Premium payments are handled by Stripe through its Managed Payments service. When you start checkout, we send Stripe your name, email address and an internal account ID, so the payment is linked to your account. You give your payment details and billing address directly to Stripe on its checkout page.

For Premium purchases, Stripe's affiliate Sold through Link, LLC ("Link") is the merchant of record. Stripe and Link process your data as independent controllers to take the payment, calculate and collect VAT, prevent fraud, send receipts and invoices, and handle payment support, refunds and disputes, under the Stripe Privacy Policy and the Link Privacy Policy. Link shares the order data listed in section 2 with us, and we use it under this policy. Stripe also stores the customer and subscription records of our Stripe account for us.

If you ask Link to delete your data, Stripe cancels your Premium subscription and removes your data from our Stripe records. Your Flight Weasel account is separate: you delete it in your profile settings.

5. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the services that help us run FlightWeasel, to the extent they need it:

  • Google Cloud: hosting of our website, database, task queues and storage, in European data centres.
  • Brevo (France): sending our emails. When you unsubscribe through Brevo's own unsubscribe link, Brevo tells us, so we stop those emails too.
  • Google: Sign in with Google (if you use it), reCAPTCHA on the sign-up page, Google Tag Manager, and, only with your consent, Google Analytics and Google Ads.
  • Stripe and Link: payments (section 4).
  • FlightAPI.io: we send it the routes and dates we search, never your personal data.
  • Authorities, when the law requires us to.

Google, Stripe and Link may process data in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. How Long We Keep It

  • Account data, preferences, alerts, searches and Premium top-up records: until you delete your account. Live search results are deleted after 7 days.
  • Newsletter sign-ups without an account: until you ask us to delete them, or 30 days after you unsubscribe.
  • Records of the emails we send you and of your email preference changes: 13 months, or until you delete your account if that's sooner.
  • Payment records in Stripe: as long as tax and accounting law requires (in the Netherlands, 7 years).
  • Support, refund and withdrawal messages: as long as we need them to handle your request and meet our legal obligations.
  • Feedback: until you delete your account.
  • Server logs: up to 30 days.
  • Analytics data (with consent): at most 14 months.

7. Third-Party Links

Our website contains links to third-party sites (such as booking platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. Please review their policies independently.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Some cookies are essential for the website to work, such as the session cookies that keep you signed in, and we store your cookie choice in your browser. Google reCAPTCHA runs on the sign-up page to keep bots out.

Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking) are only used if you click "Accept All" in our cookie banner. Google Tag Manager, which loads these tags, runs on every page except the admin panel and the email-link pages (/unsubscribe, /feedback), and receives your choice. To change your choice, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again. You can also block cookies in your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.

9. Data Security

We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, such as encrypted connections, hashed passwords and restricted access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if a data breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You can delete your account in your profile settings, and switch off any of our emails except account emails (such as password resets) with the unsubscribe link in the email, your mail app's unsubscribe button, or your email settings. For anything else, email us (section 13); we reply within one month.

You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority in the country where you live.

11. Children's Privacy

FlightWeasel is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The date at the top shows the current version, and we'll email you about changes that materially affect you.
