Why we reject 99.95% of flights (and why thats actually good for you)

Industry InsightsBehind the Scenes

People ask all the time why we don't show more deals. The truth? Most flights are not worth showing; expensive, long layovers, bad airlines, etc. We'd rather send you nothing than waste your time with deals that involves 3 layovers and arrives at 3am.

Our filtering criteria

Every flight that comes through our system gets checked against these rules:

1. Reasonable flight details

  • Maximum 1 layover, only reserved for long routes (and the layover is short)
  • Reasonable departure and arrival times, unless price is too good to pass up

2. Decent airlines

  • We blacklist airlines with terrible safety records
  • No ultra budget carriers that charge for everything
  • Prefer airlines with good customer service; and NO travel agents

3. Actual savings

  • Must be at least 30% cheaper than typical prices
  • No 'deals' that are actually more expensive than booking direct
  • Price must include all mandatory fees

4. Practical routing

  • No 3 day layovers in random cities
  • No backtracking (fly east to go west? Nah.)
  • Reasonable total journey time

Why this matters

When we started Flight Weasel, we were getting 50+ 'deals' per day. Most were terrible, and we became desensitised. Now we only send the best of the best.

Quality over quantity, every time.
